The Sussex Diamond Way was initially set up by the Sussex Area of The Ramblers in 1995 to mark the 60th anniversary of the parent organisation, hence the diamond in the name. The project was driven forward by John Cribb, David Johnson, Ben Perkins, Andrew Bailey and Ross Urquhart, who originally devised, described and walked the route.
In 2017, on the back of the successful relaunch of the Sussex Border Path in 2016, it was decided by Sussex Area to resurrect the Sussex Diamond Way. The original book of the walk has long since gone out of print, but a few copies do still remain. Using this book as a basis on which to work, this website has been put together to assist walkers who may wish to walk this beautiful route through the heart of Sussex.
The way-marking of the entire route has recently been completed. It is hoped that the descriptions, maps and gpx files available via the links below will make covering the route straightforward.
